Nippon Paper Industries USA (NPIUSA), situated on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula, is a heavy industry mill that currently produces light-weight mechanical paper, with several other capital projects underway to enhance and expand our product lines.  NPIUSA is also operating a newly constructed Biomass Boiler and 20-megawatt Co-Generation facility that reduces emissions, replaces older equipment and generates 20 megawatts of green electricity using underutilized renewable resources.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications (MQs) for consideration. All education requirements will be independently verified. In addition to the minimum qualifications listed for each position, all salaried positions require proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

CURRENT SALARIED EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

MAINTENANCE PLANNER / RELIEF SUPERVISOR,

Recruitment No. MS-052016

The Maintenance Planner has the responsibility for planning all aspects of maintenance activities primarily in the paper mill area, although mill-wide projects can be expected.  Responsibilities include planning minor activities such as small pump rebuilds, to major projects such as suction roll rebuilds, and up to and including complex capital project installation projects. All sorts and size projects fall within the scope of the Planner position.  The Planner will also act as a Relief Supervisor for three present Supervisor positions.

Past supervisory experience and/or eagerness to purse a future supervisory position is a plus.

The Planner position is in a rotating maintenance supervisor call schedule that presently is shared among nine (9) positions.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies

  • High school diploma (not GED) with five (5) years demonstrated ability to effectively plan and implement various projects in a preventative maintenance program.

Preferred Education

  • At least 2-year technical degree with five (5) years of relevant experience doing project planning and/or supervision of technically skilled workers.

AND

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to work well independently and in groups;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Industrial pulp and paper and/or steam turbine experience desired

CURRENT HOURLY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

ENTRY-LEVEL OPERATOR/LABORER (EXTRA BOARD 2)

The Extra Board is our entry-level position and is responsible for serving as a relief worker for mill vacancies, including prescheduled and on-call, and will work varying shifts and days.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies

  • High school diploma; or GED received in 2014 or later. Education will be verified.
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to perform work classified with Heavy Strength requirements.

 

MULTI-CRAFT MECHANIC 2

Recruitment No. MCM-052016

The Multi-Craft Mechanic (MCM) is responsible for general maintenance of the operating equipment throughout the facility. MCMs may be required to perform any of the following crafts at any time: millwright, welding, pipefitting, machining, auto mechanic, painting and lubrication. MCMs will rely heavily on journeyman trade knowledge and utilization of hand and power tools for accomplishing work assignments.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies

  • High school diploma; or GED received in 2014 or later. Education will be verified.
  • Journeyman level skills in one of the following:  millwright, pipefitter or machinist.
  • Possess two (2) additional skills outside of journeyman trade in the following: roll grinding, carpentry, pipefitting, welding, optical equipment, vibration alignment, vibration diagnostics, diesel mechanics, hydraulic trouble-shooting, tig welding or machining.
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to perform work classified with Heavy Strength requirements.
  • Must have own necessary tools.
